September 15, 2024 – Emporia State struggled on Sunday afternoon against UMary, registering just three shots as they fell 3-0 against the Marauders.
UMary managed three shots and a pair of corner kicks in the first ten minutes before they scored the first goal of the match. In the 12th minute, UMary used a counterattack to get through the Hornets as Emporia State fell behind 1-0.
The pressure from the Marauders persisted before the Hornets allowed the second goal in the 31st minute. Emporia State managed just two shots in the first half, with the second coming from
Hadlie Lowe just before the halftime break, but the Hornets entered the break trailing 2-0.
In the second half, UMary quickly added their third of the match in the 48th minute. In the 64th minute,
Hadlie Lowe recorded her second shot of the match to force the second save from the Marauders goalkeeper. Neither the Hornets or Marauders managed a goal over the final 30 minutes as Emporia State fell 3-0 against UMary on Sunday afternoon.
Hadlie Lowe had two shots and
Avery Zimmerman added one of her own in the match.
Mackenzi Goen made three saves and
Nagi Kawahata recorded her first career match played over the final 18 minutes.
Emporia State will be back in action on Wednesday, September 18 as they host Drury in their 2024 home opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from the ESU Pitch.
