March 25, 2024-Emporia State's
Alijah Comithier has been named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Second-Team NCAA Division II Men's Basketball All-Central District as voted upon by coaches from the region.
Comithier was the leading active scorer in the MIAA and ranks sixth nationally among NCAA Division II players with 2,128 career points. He scored 1,017 points at Emporia State to rank 24
th in Hornet history. He was the fourth player in Emporia State history to score over 1,000 points in two years before being joined by teammate
Owen Long this season with 1,009 points.
A First-Team All-MIAA selection, Comithier ranked second in the MIAA in scoring this season at 17.8 points per game. He reached double figures in 28 of 31 games with a high 28 points against Northeastern State and eclipsed the 20 point mark 12 times this year. He had a triple double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and ten assists against Newman.
This is the third year in a row that a Hornet has been named to the NABC All-District team.
Owen Long was named second-team All-District last season after
Tray Buchanan earned first-team honors following the 2021-22 season.
Emporia State went 19-12 this season and has averaged 20.3 wins per game over the past three seasons.
