March 14, 2024-For the second day in a row the Emporia State women's tennis team knocked off a NCAA Division I team as they defeated Lafayette College 4-3 on Thursday evening at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

The duo of
Sheriden Wichman and
Perla Conde Vendrell got things started for Emporia State with a 6-2 win at #3 doubles. That would be the only doubles win however as the Leopards won at #1 and #2 to take the doubles point.

Andrea Santiago was able to even things up with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #6 singles for Emporia State. Lafayette went back in front as Alyssa Perdomo defeated
Perla Conde Vendrell 7-5, 6-3 at #1 singles.
Giovanna Ferreira picked up a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win at #2 and
Lilie Bizouerne put the Hornets in front with a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) win at #3 singles.Â
Sheriden Wichman clinched the win for Emporia State with a 6-4, 7-5 win at #5 singles.Â
Paige Stranghoner almost gave the Hornets a 5-2 win but fell in three sets including a 24 point tiebreaker in the third 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13-11) at #4 singles.

The Emporia State women will wrap up their Spring Break trip on Saturday when they travel to Florida Southern. First serve from the FSC campus in Lakeland, Fla. is set for 9:30 a.m. (ET). The Hornet men will play their final Florida dual on Friday when they take on Wheaton (Mass.) at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando with a first serve set for 11:30 a.m. (ET).
