March 14, 2024-The Emporia State men fell to NCAA Division I Lehigh 7-0 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida on Thursday afternoon.
In order to maximize court time and space the singles were played first.
Sergio Vera Martin fell 6-1, 6-2 at #2,
Hachem Fahem lost 6-3, 6-2 at #6,
Anton Sarunic dropped a 7-6, 6-1 decision at #1 and
Harrison Brown fell 7-6, 6-3 at #5 to clinch the victory for the Mountain Hawks of the Patriot League. Calvo Diego lost 7-6, 6-3 at #5 and
Mostafa Elbasnaly went to three sets before falling 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 at #4 singles.
With the dual decided Emporia State shook up their doubles lineup a bit. Brown teamed with
Elvin Selimovic as the lost 6-0 at #1 while Vera Martin and
Harris Kossover fell 6-3 at #3 doubles. Elbasnaly and
Lleyton Fosha teamed up at #2 in a match that went unfinished after the doubles point was decided.
The Hornet men are back in action on Friday against Wheaton (Mass.) at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla. First serve is now set for 11:30 a.m. (ET). The Emporia State women will play this evening against Lafayette College at the USTA National Campus.
