Emporia State women's tennis nets exhibition win over Barton CC

Box Score February 5, 2024-The Emporia State women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 6-1 exhibition win over Barton Community College on Monday afternoon at the Kossover Family Tennis Center.
 
The Hornets swept through the doubles as Lili Bizourerne and Paige Stranghoner started things with a 6-0 win at #2 doubles. Emporia State finished the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win by Perla Conde and Sheriden Wichman at #3 and a 6-4 win at #1 by Giovanna Ferreira and Anastasia Pesic.
 
In singles play Emporia State got straight set wins by Bizouerne at #3, Ferreira at #4, Pesic at #5 and Stranghoner at #6 to secure the dual win.  Angelina Gnezdilova fell in a third set tiebreaker 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) at #1 before Conde finished off the dual with a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9) win at the #2 position.
 
Emporia State will open the spring regular season this weekend when they travel to Springfield, Mo. Their first match in Springfield will be against Maryville (Mo.) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. before they take on the host Drury Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
