Box Score 2 February 11, 2024-The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams both fell on Sunday to finish their weekend in Springfield, Mo. The men fell 4-3 while the women dropped a 5-2 decision.
The Hornet men won the doubles point with
Sergio Vera Martin and
Mostafa Elbasnaly winning 7-6 (7-5) at #1 and
Harrison Brown and
Elvin Selimovic won 7-5 at the #3 position. Elbasnaly picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win at #3 while
Diego Calvo earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 decision at #4.
The Emporia State women got a 6-4 win by
Anastasia Pesic and
Giovanna Ferreira at #2 doubles but Drury took the other two matches to secure the doubles point.
Lilie Bizouerne won 6-0, 7-6 at #4 singles and Pesic won by retirement at #5 to give the Hornets their two points.
The Hornet men will be back in action on Thursday, February 15 against Ottawa at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex. Both teams will travel to North Kansas City, Mo. on February 17 to take on Rockhurst.
