February 1, 2024 – The Lady Hornets dropped their road matchup against Northeastern State on Thursday night 81-61.
Emporia State got started on the front foot, scoring five of the first six points of the game. The Lady Hornets were able to maintain their hot start throughout the first quarter as they took a 19-16 lead into the second quarter.
In the first, Emporia State shot 7-14 from the floor and 3-5 from three and held a 10-6 advantage on rebounds.
The Lady Hornets struggled in the second quarter, shooting just 4-13 from the floor as Northeastern State was able to take a 35-29 lead into the halftime break.
The offensive struggles for Emporia State continued following the halftime break, as the Lady Hornets shot 4-17 in the quarter while Northeastern State shot 11-16 and led by as much as 23 points over Emporia State.
In the fourth, the offense picked up for Emporia State, as the Lady Hornets scored 21 points and went 7-8 from the free throw line. The Lady Hornets were unable to trim the deficit in the fourth as they fell to the Riverhawks 81-61 on Thursday night.
As a team, Emporia State shot 34.4% from the floor and 8-24 from three.
Stevie Stinchcomb led the Lady Hornets with 17 points and 6-10 shooting and a career-high five made threes.

Faith Paramore joined Stinchcomb in double-figures.
