November 9, 2024 – Emporia State was unable to contain the Nebraska-Kearney attack on Saturday night, falling in three sets against the fifth-ranked Lopers.
The first set featured the first of two sets with the Lopers hitting over .400. Emporia State also posted their best set of the night, hitting .216 with 13 kills. The Hornets trailed the Lopers 16-14 midway through the set, before Nebraska-Kearney rallied for nine of the next ten points to clinch set one 25-15.
Nebraska-Kearney was limited by Emporia State to just .256 hitting, but the Hornets struggled on their own side with just nine kills and seven attack errors. The Lopers took set two 25-16 over the Hornets.
In set three, the Hornets were again outmatched at the net, with Nebraska-Kearney hitting .433 and the Hornets hitting just .047. Emporia State trailed throughout the third set, eventually falling 25-12 in the set and 3-0 in the match.
Camilla Ossola and
McKenya Sorrells had eight and six kills respectively while
Rayishon Jackman and
Mia Frisbie each had five of their own.
Emporia State returns to action for their final road trip of the season as they take on Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday, November 15. First serve between the Hornets and Lions is set for 6:00 p.m.
