Winning weekend for Emporia State tennis at Pratt doubles tourney

October 6, 2024-The Emporia State men and women both came away with winning weekends at the Pratt CC Doubles Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Pratt, Kan.
 
The men's doubles team of Mostafa Elbasnaly and Luke West went 3-1 and picked up a win in the second flight championship match for the Hornets on Saturday. In the third flight Harris Kossover and Gwendal Mazuay went undefeated on the weekend winning all four of their matches while Duvan Santiago Torres and Alexis Mattenberger also went undefeated in pool play. Since they were representing the same school, they did not meet for the flight championship.
 
The Emporia State women's first flight team of Anastasia Pesic and Yuliya Klimova along with the duo of Sheriden Wichman and Lilie Bizouerne in the second flight both went 3-1 on Friday to finish second in their respective pools. Both would go on to win the third place match in their respective pools.  Giovanna Ferreira and Keira Knoflicek finished the day 2-2 winning the fifth place match in flight two.
 
The Hornets will wrap up the fall portion of the schedule at the Washburn Invitational on October 26-27 in Topeka, Kan.
