April 15, 2023-The Emporia State women saw their season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to #27 Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex.
The doubles competition was tight with only a break seperating each match. The duo of
Alexia Desmet and
Karen Santiago won at #2 for Emporia State, taking a 6-4 victory over the Bronchos Tizia Brocks and Taylor Conway. At the #1 spot ESU's
Anastasia Pesic and
Paige Stranghoner played Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock, the 4th ranked doubles team in the nation, to a 6-4 loss.
Desmet gave the Hornets their only point of the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 singles over Buntrock. UCO would clinc the dual with wins at #2, #3 and #4 singles.
This was the final match for the Emporia State women. The Hornet men will take the court for the final time of Sunday afternoon against William Jewell. First serve from the Kossover Family Tennis Complex is set for 1:00 p.m. with Senior Day activities for Theo Belmonte, Jordi Bou Sastre and Pablo Carranza set to take place before the start of the match.
