March 25, 2023 – Emporia State struggled offensively against Missouri Southern in game two of the three-game series as the Hornets tallied just one run on four hits as they fell to the Lions 13-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets started the game with a runner in scoring position as
Chandler Bloomer doubled down the left field line with one out in the first inning but the Hornets were held scoreless in the first inning.
Missouri Southern jumped in front with three runs in the bottom of the first inning as they took a 3-0 lead over the Hornets.
Following another run by the Lions in the second to take a 4-0,
Chandler Bloomer recorded his second hit of the game with a single through the right side that advanced
Brenden Tauber to third base. Bloomer stole second to advance two runners into scoring position but the Hornets were unable to find their way onto the scoreboard.
The Lions expanded their lead over the next two innings as the Hornets came to the plate in the fifth inning trailing Missouri Southern 11-0.
The final two hits for Emporia State came in their final at-bat in the seventh inning.
TJ Racherbaumer led off the inning with a solo home run, his third home run of the season to give the Hornets their first run of the season.
Following the home run,
Jake Daneff recorded a pinch-hit single before the game ended with the Hornets falling to the Lions 13-1.
Chandler Bloomer went 2-3 and
TJ Racherbaumer went 1-3 with a home run.
Emporia State will conclude their three-game series with Missouri Southern on Sunday, March 26. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Joplin, Mo.
