WEEKEND AT WHITE
Emporia State is set to host Missouri Southern and Central Missouri this weekend.

LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets traveled to Hays, Kan. and took down Fort Hays State in four sets behind 32 kills from Sandora Sasaki.

THE COACHES
Ken Murczek is 10-9 in his first season at ESU. Murczek is coming off great success at NAIA Oregon Tech where he brought the Owls to their first National Tournament in school history. Murczek is no stranger to the big stage, as he has coached at the NCAA I level, with head coaching tenures at Wake Forest and North Texas, along with multiple assistant positions including the University of Kansas.
Kalie Mader is 52-107 in her sixth season at MSSU. She is 5-3 against ESU.
Caitlin Peterson is 32-18 in her second season at UCM. She is 3-0 against ESU.


SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 10-9 this season and 4-7 in the MIAA. As a team, Emporia State ranks sixth in the MIAA in hitting percentage. and seventh in total kills and blocks this season. The Hornet attack is led by Sandora Sasaki who has 310 kills with 4.63 kills per set. Sasaki is coming off her second MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week honor and leads the MIAA in both kills and kills per set. McKenya Sorrells also has nearly two kills per set with 116 total kills and 1.93 per set. Brailee Bogle has made a strong impact in her first season with the Hornets as she has 623 assists with 9.30 assists per set which ranks fifth in the MIAA this season.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Missouri Southern is 13-9 on the season and 5-7 in the MIAA which has them seventh in the conference, just one spot above the Hornets. The Lions are led in attack by Fernanda Canedo who has 253 kills with a 3.33 kills per set average. Hannah Allick and Landrey VanOverschelde combine for more than 12 assists per set.

Emporia State leads the all-time series 51-34 over Missouri Southern. 

SCOUTING THE JENNIES
Central Missouri is 13-7 and 10-2 in the MIAA and are currently second in the conference. The Jennies are currently receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll. Kersti Nix leads the way for Central Missouri in attack with 281 kills and 3.51 kills per set. In addition to Nix, three Jennies average over two kills per set. At setter, Olivia Olson has tallied 849 assists and averages 10.61 assist per set. In defense, Grace Winkelmann has 301 digs which is ranked fifth in the MIAA.

Central Missouri leads the all-time series over the Hornets 60-6.

UP NEXT
Following their pair of home matches against the Lions and Jennies, Emporia State will travel to Nebraska-Kearney for a midweek matchup against the #9 Lopers. The Hornets wil then take on Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri on the road.
