Lady Hornets Drop Monday Matchup Against Bronchos

Emporia State shoots 29.4% in loss to Central Oklahoma

January 2, 2023 – Emporia State struggled offensively as they fell to Central Oklahoma 66-57 on Monday night in Edmond, Okla.

Emporia State jumped out in front of Central Oklahoma in the first quarter as they opened the game with a 9-3 run which included three-pointers from Victoria Price, Katie Horyna and Kylee Scheer. The Bronchos and Lady Hornets were able to keep up a scoring pace throughout the remainder of the quarter as Emporia State held a 22-18 lead after the first quarter.

Following the break between quarters, both offensives struggled in the second as the Lady Hornets and Bronchos combined to make just eight field goals on a combined 29 shot attempts. Entering the halftime break, the score was tied 30-30 between the two teams.

Tre'Zure Jobe led the Lady Hornets with 10 points in the first half while six more players scored in the first half, including Victoria Price with 5 points and Faith Paramore and Maary Lakes who each scored 4 points of their own.

As a team, Emporia State shot just 30.6% from the floor and 21.7% on three-point attempts. The Lady Hornets outscored the Bronchos 9-2 in points off turnovers in the first half.

After halftime, the Lady Hornets scored seven of the first nine points as they took a 37-32 lead over the Bronchos through the first three minutes of the half.

Central Oklahoma was able to respond as they put together a 15-5 scoring run to end the third quarter to lead 47-42 entering the fourth quarter.

Emporia State struggled on the offensive end in the fourth quarter as they were unable to cut the deficit below five points as the Lady Hornets shot just 28.6% from the floor in the final frame as they fell 66-57 against Central Oklahoma.

Tre'Zure Jobe led the Lady Hornets with 20 points in the game which included three three-pointers. Victoria Price added nine points while Ehlaina Hartman scored eight points. Hartman also led the Lady Hornets with eight rebounds as they matched the rebounding total for Central Oklahoma in the game.

Emporia State will return home as they will take on Lincoln on Thursday, January 5. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. from White Auditorium.

NOTES
Tre'Zure Jobe passed Laura Patrick for sixth in career three-pointers made for the Lady Hornets with 177 in her career.

Tre'Zure Jobe has scored 20 points in five consecutive games.
