April 9, 2022-The Emporia State women evened their MIAA record with a 5-2 win at Fort Hays State on Saturday afternoon in Hays, Kan.

The Hornets swept all three doubles matches to start the dual ahead 1-0.Â
Anastasia Pesic and
Paige Stranghoner won 6-3 at #2 while
Kelsie Burr and
Micaela McSpadden won at #3 to clinch the point.Â
Viktoria Mackova and
Karen Santiago Sanchez completed the doubles sweep with a 7-6 (4) win at #1 doubles.

Mackova took a 6-4, 6-0 win at #6 to get singles play started followed by Santiago Sanchez getting a 6-3, 6-2 win at #3. Stranghoner clinched the dual win with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4 singles. McSpadden gave the Hornets their final point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #1 singles. The Tigers won in three sets at #2 and #5 for the final score.

Emporia State is back in action on Sunday when they travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on #48 Neb.-Kearney. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
