April 3, 2022 – Emporia State defeated Rogers State in the series final in Claremore, Oklahoma 10-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Noah Geekie took the hill for Emporia State against Rogers State on Sunday and went straight to work handling the Hillcat offense before the Hornet offense got rolling. After three scoreless innings for Emporia State, the Hornets broke the scoreless tie when
Chandler Bloomer laid down a squeeze bunt with runners on first and third to score
TJ Racherbaumer.
The squeeze bunt seemingly jumpstarted the Hornets for the remainder of the game.
In the fifth inning,
Blake Carroll came to the plate with two runners in scoring position and recorded an infield single to score
Mason Sturdy from third base. A double play later in the inning would push across another run for Emporia State, giving the Hornets a 3-0 lead through five innings.
Emporia State loaded the bases in the seventh inning for
Noah Geekie who was looking to make an impact at the plate. He did just that with a two RBI single to give the Hornets a 5-0 lead. The lead would grow to 6-0 later in the seventh inning when
Chandler Bloomer recorded his second RBI of the game with groundout to the shortstop.
The Hornets would extend their lead even further in the eighth inning, scoring all four runs in the frame with two outs.
TJ Racherbaumer came through with the bases loaded to record his two RBI for the game. An RBI single from
Noah Geekie followed by an RBI double by
Chandler Bloomer gave Emopria State a 10-0 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth.
Hayden Baumwart replaced
Noah Geekie for the final inning and set the Hillcats down in order to complete the eight-inning victory for Emporia State.
Noah Geekie went 7.0 scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out four batters to claim his fourth win of the season.
Hayden Baumwart recorded a shutout final inning on the mound.

Noah Geekie each recorded three hits on the day. Geekie and
Chandler Bloomer both drove in three runs for the Hornets.
Emporia State will remain in the Sooner State for a single midweek matchup against Northwestern Oklahoma on Monday, April 4 in Alva, Oklahoma. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
