Emporia State opens the 2022 tennis season against Augustana in the competition debut of the Kossover Family Tennis Complex. With the forecast of cold temperatures the indoor courts of the Kossover Complex are expected to host all of the matches. The women will open at 9:00 a.m. in non-conference action with the men's teams set to follow in an MIAA/GAC North Division match.
The Emporia State women went 8-8 last year with a 1-7 record in MIAA play. They return four players from last year including
Karen Santiago Sanchez who went 9-7 last season with a 5-3 record at #1 singles.
Viktoria Mackova and
Kelsie Burr combined to go 3-2 in doubles action with Burr posting a 6-9 record in singles while Mackova went 4-6 individually.
Emma Biggs was 6-2 last season.
The Augustana women were 18-3 last season with an 11-0 record in NSIC play. They are ranked #16 in the ITA National Poll this season.
The Hornet men were 6-6 last year with a 0-4 record in North Division play. They return five of their six regular starters and six players total.
Harrison Brown was 8-3 last season with a 6-3 record at #4 singles.
Theo Belmonte went 9-3 including an 8-2 record at #6 singles. They combined to go 8-1 in doubles play.
Andy Graf was 6-6 overall with a 6-5 record at #3 singles.
Pablo Caranza went 5-6 last year with a 4-6 mark at #5 singles.
Luiz Maia played primarily at #1 singles last year, going 3-9 overall.
The Viking men went 4-8 last year competing as an independent. They will be in their first year as an affiliate member of the MIAA/GAC North Division.
