February 16, 2022-After dropping the doubles point and the first match of singles, Emporia State stormed back to win five straight singles matches to take a 5-2 victory over Bethel in men's tennis action at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets lost 6-1 and 6-0 at #1 and #2 doubles before falling 6-4 at #3 as the Threshers went up 1-0.Â
Harrison Brown then lost at #1 singles 6-2, 6-3 before Emporia State started their comeback.

Luiz Maia won 6-3, 6-1 at #2 and
Andy Graff picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at #3 to tie the dual at 2-2.
Theo Belmonte gave the Hornets a 3-2 lead as he won 6-2, 6-4 at #4 singles.Â
Sergio Vera and
Jaden Tredway took the court at #5 and #6 only needing one win to clinch the dual win. Vera got the clincher winning 6-2, 6-1 at #5 before Tredway put the finishing touches on with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #6 singles.

With the win Emporia State improves to 3-0 on the season. Their next action is set for Friday against Ottawa. First serve from the Kossover Complex is set for 4:00 p.m.
