Lady Hornets complete Colorado trip with 80-64 win over UC-Colorado Springs

Faith Paramore with career high 20 points for ESU

November 26, 2022-Victoria Price scored off the opening tip and Emporia State never trailed in an 80-64 win over UC-Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon in Pueblo, Colo.

The Lady Hornets led 7-0 to start the game and held a 15-9 lead with 2:33 left in the opening quarter.  The Mountain Lions ended the period on a 6-2 run to close within 17-15 at the end of the quarter.

Two free throws by Jessica Nation pulled UCCS to within 21-20 with 6:37 left in the second quarter. Ehlaina Hartman then scored seven points during a 9-2 run to give the Lady Hornets a 30-22 lead with 3:21 left in the half. Emporia State would close the half on another 9-2 run to take a 39-26 lead into the break.

Maary Lakes scored to start the third quarter and extend the run to 11-2.  The lead stayed between 12 and 17 for the rest of the third quarter.  The lead would grow to 25 points midway through the fourth quarter as Katie Horyna scored to make it 74-50.  The Mountain Lions finished the game on a 14-6 run to make it an 80-64 final score.

Faith Paramore scored an ESU career high 20 points on seven of 12 shooting with eight rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets. Ehlaina Hartman had 14 points and Lakes had 10 points to join her in double figures.

Emporia State improved to 4-1 on the season and will begin MIAA play on Saturday, December 3 when they travel to Washburn.  Tip-off for the Topeka edition of the Turnpike Tussle is set for 1:00 p.m. in Lee Arena.
