EMPORIA STATE TENNIS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY

April 16, 2021-The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams return to MIAA play this weekend as the women travel to Missouri Western on Sunday and both teams play host to Newman on Monday at the EHS Courts.
 
The Hornet men are 6-4 on the season.  Theo Belmonte is 8-2 on the season for Emporia State with a 7-1 mark at the #6 spot.  Harrison Brown is 7-2 overall with a 5-2 record at #4 singles. Andy Graf and Taylor Nelson are both 5-5 overall with Graf sporting a 5-4 record at #3 singles while Nelson is 4-4 at #2 singles. Graf and Nelson have combined to go 5-5 at the #1 doubles spot while Belmonte and Brown are 6-1 at #3 doubles.
 
The Emporia State women are 6-5 on the year.  Ceyrielle Peyroche is 8-3 overall in singles action with a 6-2 mark in the #2 position.  Karen Santiago Sanchez is 5-3 at #1 singles with a 6-5 overall record.  They have combined to go 7-4 at #2 doubles.
 
The Missouri Western women are 8-4 on the season with a 2-2 mark in MIAA play heading into their dual with Newman on Saturday.  The Newman women are 7-6 with a 0-4 mark in MIAA play while the Jet men are 8-5 overall and 0-2 in the MIAA.
 
The top eight women's teams will advance to the MIAA Tournament while just the top two men's teams from the MIAA and the top two men's teams from the GAC will meet for the combined MIAA/GAC Tournament.
 
The Hornet men are scheduled to play Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday in Wichita, Kan. Both teams will then travel to North Newton, Kan. on Wednesday to play Bethel.
