March 26, 2021-The Emporia State men's and women's tennis teams will put their undefeated records on the line this weekend as they open MIAA play at Northwest Missouri on Saturday and Washburn on Sunday.

The Hornet men are 6-0 on the season and ranked #8 in the ITA Central Region rankings.Â
Theo Belmonte and
Harrison Brown have combined to go undefeated so far this season in both singles and doubles. Brown is 6-0 overall with a 4-0 record at #4 singles while Belmonte is 6-0 overall and 5-0 at the #6 spot. They are 4-0 at #3 doubles.
Andy Graf and
Taylor Nelson have teamed up to go 5-1 at #1 doubles. Graf is 5-1 overall in singles play and 5-0 in the #3 position. Nelson is 5-1 overall with a 4-0 record at #2.

The Emporia State women are 5-0 on the year.Â
Karen Santiago Sanchez and
Cyrielle Peyroche have combined to go undefeated at the top of the order for Emporia State. Santiago Sanchez is 5-0 at #1 singles while Peyroche is 5-0 at #2 singles and they have teamed up to go 5-0 at #2 doubles.Â
Kelsie Burr is 5-0 at #4 singles and has gone 3-0 over the last three matches with
Viktoria Mackova at #1 doubles.Â

The Northwest Missouri men are 7-2 on the year headed into Friday's home match against Newman and ranked #3 in the ITA Central Region Rankings. They have wins over #20 Midwestern State and #25 Southwest Baptist. Â Â The Bearcat women are 2-3 on the year and have lost three straight headed into their match with Newman.

The Washburn men are 7-2 on the year headed into their Saturday home match against Newman and are ranked #21 in the nation and #1 in the ITA Central Region rankings. Their two losses are to Division I Neb.-Omaha and at #7 Valdosta State. The Washburn women are 7-0 on the season, including a win at #7 Flager, and ranked #9 in the ITA Central Region.

The next action for Emporia State will be their MIAA home opener against Newman on Friday, April 2. First serve is set for 10:30 a.m. at the EHS Courts.
