February 19, 2021-For the first time in 345 days, the Emporia State women's tennis team will take to the courts on Saturday when they travel to Tabor for their season opener. The Hornets will take on the Bluejays in the brand new Tabor College Indoor Tennis Complex in Hillsboro, Kan.

The Hornets were 3-3 last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down spring sports. Emporia State returns five of the seven players that competed in their final match against Oklahoma Baptist on March 12, 2020.
The doubles team of Viktoria Mackova and Kelsie Burr went undefeated last season at 5-0, winning two matches at #2 doubles and three at #3 doubles. Individually Cyrielle Peyroche was 5-1 at #3 singles while Karen Santiago Sanchez went 5-1 competing at the #4 and #5 positions. Silvana Caceres was 4-2 in doubles play with a 2-0 mark in the #1 slot with the graduated Shannen Meyer.
First serve at the Tabor Indoor Tennis Complex is set for 11:00 a.m.
