December 20, 2021-The Lady Hornets hit eight of 12 three-pointers in the fourth quarter to pull away from Rogers State in an 88-74 get away day win for Emporia State.

It took over three and a half minutes for either team to score with
Tre'Zure Jobe breaking the ice at the 6:24 mark of the first half. Emporia State would score the first nine points to lead 9-0 with 3:18 left before the Hillcats went on an 8-2 run of their own. Jobe hit a three-pointer with 31 seconds left to give the Lady Hornets a 14-8 lead after one quarter.

Both teams heated up in the second with Rogers State outscoring Emporia State 32-26 to send the game to the half tied at 40-40. The Hillcats hit five of six three-pointers in the second quarter, but went just four of 12 from inside the arc. The Lady Hornets shot 58.8% in the quarter but hit only one of four three-pointers.

Karsen Schultz scored the first points of the third quarter before Rogers State went on a 5-0 run to take a 45-42 lead with 7:14 left in the period. Emporia State responded with an 11-3 run to take a 53-48 lead with 3:45 left in the quarter and they would never trail again.

Kylee Day hit two free throws to pull Rogers State within 70-67 with 5:23 left. The Lady Hornets then went on an 11-2 run with
Fredricka Sheats hitting two threes to start it and Jobe finishing it with a three to give Emporia State an 81-69 lead with 3:17 left.

Tre'Zure Jobe led Emporia State with 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds while
Fredricka Sheats had 15 points and nine rebounds. They were joined in double figures by
Karsen Schultz with 18 points and
Kali Martin with 13 points.Â

The Lady Hornets will now take the mandatory seven day NCAA Division II Life in the Balance break. The next action for Emporia State will be on Saturday, January 1 at Lincoln. Tip-off in Jefferson City, Mo. is set for 1:30 p.m.
