December 18, 2021-Emporia State led by as many as 49 points before settling for an 89-61 win over Northeastern State on Saturday night in White Auditorium.

The RiverHawks led 4-2 early but the Hornets used a 13-2 run to take control of the game as the lead stayed in double digits for the final 31:34 of the game. Emeka Obukwelu scored for NSU to make it 33-17 with 3:41 left in the half. That would be the last points of the half for the RiverHawks as the Hornets scored the final 12 points to take a 45-17 lead to the break.

Emporia State extended their run to 15-0 with a
Peyton Rogers-Schmidt three to open the second half.
Kaden Evans hit a three-pointer and
Jumah'Ri Turner grabbed a steal and went coast to coast to make it 53-19 and force Northeastern State into a timeout just 91 seconds into the second half. That would ignite a 14-4 run to give the Hornets a 62-23 lead with 16:31 left in the game. Another 12-4 run gave Emporia State their largest lead of the night at 82-33 with 11:08 left in the game. The Hornets led by 38 with 4:43 left when the RiverHawks ended the game on a 12-2 run for the final score.

Jumah'Ri Turner led the Hornets with 23 points five assists and five steals while
Tray Buchanan scored 22 points with a career high two blocks. They were joined in double figures by
Kaden Evans who went five of nine from the three point line for 15 points.

The Hornets are back in action on Monday afternoon when they play host to Rogers State. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 3:30p.m.
