November 17, 2021-Emporia State shot 60.9% from the three point line in a 96-78 win at Rockhurst on Wednesday night.

Mayuom Buom set the tone early with a put back layup and fast break dunk to give the Hornets a 4-0 lead and they would never trail in the game. Emporia State led 30-29 with 7:10 left in the half when
Kaden Evans hit his fifth three-pointer of the first half to push the lead to four and Rockhurst would never be in a position to take the lead the rest of the game. Emporia State closed the half on a 7-2 run to take a 51-40 lead into the locker rooms.

The Hawks would get within seven points twice in the second half but the Hornets responded with three pointers each time to push the lead back to double digits. A 21-5 run gave Emporia State their biggest lead of the night at 96-70 with 2:47 left.

Tray Buchanan, this week's MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, led Emporia State with 24 points while
Kaden Evans had a near triple double with 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. They were joined in double figures by
Mayuom Buom with 16 points,
Jumah'Ri Turner with 13 and
Mason Thiessen with ten points.

The Hornets will make their White Auditorium debut for the season on Saturday against William Jewell. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
