LADY HORNETS TAKE OVER LATE IN 84-66 WIN OVER HENDERSON STATE

Emporia State moves to 2-0 on the season

November 13, 2021-The Lady Hornets got 31 points from Tre'Zure Jobe on the way to an 84-66 win over Henderson State on Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.
 
Emporia State jumped out to a 10-4 lead early only to see Henderson State come back to take a 26-24 lead after the first quarter.  The Reddies would take a six point lead at 32-26 with 7:41 left in the second quarter before the Lady Hornets finished the half on a 12-6 run to send the teams into the break tied at 38.
 
The Lady Hornets trailed 45-42 with 7:00 left in the third quarter before going on an 11-3 run to take a 53-48 lead with 2:44 left in the period.  An Emily Weathers three-pointer gave Emporia State a 56-50 lead going to the fourth quarter.
 
The Reddies closed to within 59-58 with 7:02 left forcing the Lady Hornets to call a timeout.  Emporia State responded with a 9-0 run to take a 68-58 lead with 4:2 remaining.  Henderson State would not get closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Lady Hornets pulled away for the 84-66 final score.
 
Tre'Zure Jobe finished with 31 points and six assists for Emporia State while Victoria Price had her first career double-double as a Lady Hornet with 18 points and ten rebounds. 
 
Emporia State will be back in action on Wednesday, November 17 when they travel to Lindenwood. Tip-off from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo is set for 5:30 p.m.
