October 29, 2021-For the first time since October 14, 2018, the #11 Emporia State soccer team was shutout in a 1-0 loss at Washburn on Friday night.

The Hornets dominated the first half, outshooting the Ichabods 17-2 with a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal while controlling the ball for 52% of the half. Despite that Washburn's Mackenzie Menke scored into the upper left part of the goal on a free kick from 23 yards out to give the Ichabods a 1-0 lead with 16:38 left in the half.

For the match Emporia State would out shoot Washburn 24-8, 14-6 on goal with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.Â

The Hornets, who have already locked up a home match in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals, will wrap up the regular season Sunday at Neb.-Kearney. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
