GAUNTLET CONTINUES
Fresh off their latest matchup with a ranked MIAA opponent in Northwest Missouri, the Hornets will take on another pair of ranked teams as they play host to #16 Neb.-Kearney on Tuesday before traveling to Warrensburg, Mo. on Saturday to play at #3 Central Missouri.

LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State traveled to #9 Northwest Missouri over the weekend and fell in three sets. The Hornets competed with the Bearcats early in the first two sets but were unable to hold on as the Bearcats took control and won the first two sets 25-15. Northwest Missouri opened a large lead in the third and took the match 3-0.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 16th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 292-204 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 0-20 against UNK and 5-22 against UCM.
Rick Squiers took  over  the  UNK  program  in  
1999 and is in his 22nd year with the Lopers. He is 690-94 since beginning at Neb.-Kearney and has two National Runner-Up finishes. He is 22-0 against Emporia State
Flip Piontek is  in  his  13th  season  with  Central  Missouri and has a record of 303-74. He is 16-3 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-14 on the year and 2-9 in the MIAA. They are hitting just .127 as a team with 10.9 kills per set. Shelby Ebert has a team high 138 total for an average of 2.16 kills per set. Megan Stretton is averaging a team best 2.44 kills per set while Leah Mach is averag.ing 2.09 kills in just 44 sets. Rylie Fornelli is ranked third in the MIAA and 17th in the nation at 5.61 digs per set. Riley Bernskoetter is ranked seventh in the MIAA at 8.35 assists per set. Dori Lebron is 15th in the MIAA with 0.78 blocks per set.

SCOUTING NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
The Lopers are 15-5 on the season and 6-5 in the MIAA. Anna Squiers and Bailee Sterling both rank in the top five in the MIAA in hitting percentage at .356 and .344 respectively. Maddie Squiers leads the MIAA in assists at 11.48 per set

Neb.-Kearney leads the all-time series 43-10 after winning the 2021 MIAA opener.

LAST TIME VS. THE LOPERS
In the previous matchup to open MIAA play for the Hornets, the Lopers took down the Hornets in three sets. Dorianne Lebron had three solo blocs against the Lopers and Riley Bernskoetter tallied 22 assists.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MISSOURI
The Jennies are 16-2 on the season and 9-1 in the MIAA  and ranked #3 in the nation. Audrey Fisher is fourth in the MIAA in hitting percentage. and seventh in kills. Ally Offerdahl is fifth in the MIAA with 600 assists on the season.

SERIES HISTORY
Central Missouri leads the all-time series 56-6 over Emporia State after taking down the Hornets 3-1 earlier this season.

LAST TIME VS. THE JENNIES
In the previous matchup earlier this season, the Jennies took down the Hornets 3-1 at White Auditorium. Emporia State took the first set from the Jennies 25-21 before falling in four sets. Shelby Ebert had 12 kills for the Hornets and Rylie Fornelli had a match-high 29 digs.

UP NEXT
The Hornets play host to #2 Washburn in White Auditorium before a weekend trip to Wichita to take on Newman. The Washburn match is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m. from White Auditorium.
