March 12, 2020-In what may be the last Emporia State athletic event for the foreseeable future the Hornet women's tennis team fell 4-3 and the men's team dropped a 7-0 decision at Oklahoma Baptiston Thursday afternoon in Shawnee, Okla.

The Emporia State women won #3 doubles with Viktoria Mackova and Kelsie Burr winning 7-3 in the tiebreaker as the Bison took the double point.  The Hornets split the singles competition with Cyrielle PEyroche winning 7-3, 7-6 (7-5) at #3, Karen Santiago Sanchez won 6-0, 6-4 at #5 singles and Burr finished the day with a come from behind 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) win at #6 singles.

The Hornet men lost 7-0 but took one doubles match to a tie breaker and three singles sets to a third set. Theo Belmonte and Cameron Keinholz lost 7-6 (8-6) at #3 doubles.  Luis Maia fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at #1 singles, Andy Graf went down 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) at #3, while Belmonte lost 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) at #5 singles.

With the MIAA announcing the suspension of all MIAA intercollegiate sports activities (practice and competition) effective 11 p.m., March 12, 2020 following the decision earlier in the day by the NCAA to cancel all winter and spring championships for all three divisions, this was the last Emporia State athletic competition until further notice.
