The Lady Hornets got out to a 13-7 lead with 4:35 left in the first quarter that forced the Jets into a timeout. Emporia State took a ten point lead on
Kali Martin's old fashioned three-point play with 14.4 seconds left before Haley Albers hit a three-pointer for Newman at the end of the period to make it 21-14 going to the second.

Tre'Zure Jobe gave the Lady Hornets a 28-22 lead with 6:06 left in the half.Â
Fredricka Sheats scored with 4:56 left to give Emporia State a 30-25 lead but that would be the last points for the Lady Hornets until the 46 second mark. The Jets outscored ESU 8-0 over those 4:10 and took a 33-30 lead with 1:17 left before
Fredricka Sheats scored with 46 seconds to pull the Lady Hornets within a point at the break.

Newman scored the first points of the second half before Emporia State went on a 7-0 run to take a 39-35 lead with 7:28 left in the third. The Jets answered with five straight to go back up 40-39 with 6:48 left. The Lady Hornets went on another 7-0 run to retake the lead a 46-40 going into the under five media timeout of the third quarter. Martin's two free throws with 5:01 left would be the last score for over three minutes as the Jets went on a 7-0 run of their own to take a 47-46 lead with 3:06 left. Sheats broke the run with 1:49 left to put the Lady Hornets back up by one. The Jets scored the final five points to take a 52-48 lead into the fourth quarter.

A 10-4 run to start the final period, capped by a three-pointer from Jobe, gave the Lady Hornets a 58-56 lead with 4:44 left in the game. The teams traded scores and Martin hit a three-pointer with 1:01 left to give Emporia State a 65-62 lead. Faith Mason-Vestal pulled the Jets within a point with 37.1 seconds left. Jobe hit one of two free throws with 25.4 remaining to put Emporia State up 66-64. Kaitlyn Potter was fouled and hit two free throws with 17.6 left to tie the game.Â
Morgan Laudan was fouled with 8.6 seconds left and hit one of two to put the Lady Hornets ahead 67-66. Emporia State forced a miss on the Jets possession but there was a held ball on the rebound, giving the ball to Newman with 1.2 left. Michaela Mack found Madison Birnbaum on the inbounds and she scored with .2 left to give the Jets the 68-67 lead.

Mollie Mounsey had her fourth double-double in the last eight games with 16 points and 11 rebounds while
Tre'Zure Jobe scored a game high 20 points.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Central Oklahoma. Tip-off between the two regionally ranked teams is set for 1:30 p.m. at Hamilton Fieldhouse in Edmond, Okla.
