Tre'Zure Jobe scored 26 points to lead four Lady Hornets in double figures as Emporia State handed Northeastern State their first loss of the season 78-64 in Tahlequah, Okla. on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 6-1 lead to start the game and led 9-3 before the RiverHawks went on a 7-0 run to take a 10-9 lead with 5:24 left in the first quarter. Emporia State answered with a 9-2 run of their own to take an 18-12 lead with 2:28 left in the quarter. Northeastern State ended the period on a 7-2 run of their own to pull within a point at the break.

No one scored in the first 1:40 of the second quarter until the Shea Sanchez got a fast break bucket to give the RiverHawks their last lead at 21-20. The Lady Hornets then went on a 16-6 run and took a 36-27 leadon
Laura Garcia Laffitte's turnaround jumper in the lane with 4:38 left. That would be the last points for Emporia State in the half, but they were able to hold Northeastern State to just five points and take a four point lead to the locker room.

The Lady Hornets led 49-42 with 5:18 left in the third when the RiverHawks went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 49. They had a chance to take the lead but Cenia Hayes only hit one of two free throws with 2:45 left in the quarter.Â
Emily Weathers scored inside,
Daley Handy hit a driving layup and
Kali Martin hit one of two free throws to give Emporia State a 54-49 lead going to the fourth quarter.

The two teams traded buckets to open the fourth quarter before the Lady Hornets went on a 17-2 run to take their largest lead of the night at 73-53. Jobe capped the run with a banked in three pointer from the top of the key as she scored 12 of the ESU points during the run. Northeastern State would not get closer than 11 points the rest of the game.

Jobe scored 26 points on ten of 14 shooting from the field and dished seven assists. She was joined in double figures by
Fredricka Sheats and
Daley Handy with 14 points each and
Kali Martin added 13 points.

Emporia State is back in action on Thursday, December 3 when they play host to Newman in their 2020-21 White Auditorium debut.
