January 26, 2020-For the second straight game the Lady Hornets buried 18 three-pointers on their way to a 90-74 win over Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon in White Auditorium.

Emporia State hit their first two three-pointers and forced the Bronchos into a timeout just 1:23 into the game. UCO would go on an 18-6 run to take their biggest lead at 18-12 with 1:42 left in the quarter.Â
Grace Gordon banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer to pull the Lady Hornets within 21-18 after one quarter.

Emporia State exploded for 31 points in the second quarter to take control, shooting 11 of 14 from the field and seven of nine from beyond the three-point line in the period. With UCO leading 28-25, the Lady Hornets went on a 11-0 run with
Jessica Wayne hitting eight of the points to take a 36-28 lead with 5:36 left. Â The Emporia State lead would reach 12 with 2:05 left before setting for a 49-38 advantage at the half.

The Bronchos cut the lead down to six points at 54-48 with 5:52 left in the third and trailed by nine with 3:57 left. The Lady Hornets then went on a 7-0 run to take a 68-52 lead on a pair of
Laura Garcia Laffitte free throws with 2:31 left in the period. The teams would trade scores the rest of the quarter as Emporia State took a 72-56 lead into the final period.

Mollie Mounsey scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to give the Lady Hornets their largest lead at 77-56 with 8:46 left in the game. The Bronchos would not get closer than 15 points the rest of the game.

Mounsey led Emporia State with her first double-double as a Lady Hornet with 18 points and ten rebounds. She was joined in double figures by
Karsen Schultz with 15 points,
Jessica Wayne with 14 points on five of six shooting,
Fredricka Sheats with 12 and
Grace Gordon with ten points. As a team Emporia State was 18 of 42 from behind the arc, the third game this season they have hit at least 18 treys.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Wednesday, January 29 when they travel to league leading Central Missouri. Tip-off from the UCM Multipurpose Building is set for 5:30 p.m.
