Box Score March 10, 2019-The Emporia State women improved to 2-0 in the MIAA with a 4-3 victory over Neb.-Kearney on Saturday in North Kansas City, Mo.
The teams split #1 and #2 doubles with Viktoria Mackova and Karen Santiago winning at #2 while Cyrielle Peyroche and Jessica Purdy lost at #1 doubles. Shannen Meyer and Silvana Caceres fought off seven match points in winning at #3 7-6 (8) to clinch the doubles point headed into singles play.
UNK won three of the first five singles matches Purdy winning 6-2, 6-2 at #2 and Santiago picking up a 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-1 win at #5 singles. Peyroche clinched the win for the Hornets in come from behind fashion winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at #4 to give Emporia State a 4-3 victory.
The next action for the Hornet women is scheduled to be on Tuesday, March 12 at William Woods in Fulton, Mo. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
