February 9, 2019-In a game that saw seven ties and 13 lead changes, Central Missouri got the final basket with 1.5 seconds left as Emporia State fell 73-71 I Warrensburg on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets used a 13-0 run in the first half to take a 23-7 lead with 10:18 left in the first half. Emporia State led 25-12 when the Mules went on a 20-2 run and took a 32-27 lead with 2:36 left in the half. The Hornets answered with a 9-0 run of their own started by six straight points from Julius Jackson. Duncan Fort got the last two points of the run on a layup with eight seconds left but Michael Winger beat the buzzer with a jumper for UCM as Emporia State took a 36-34 lead into the break.

Malik Hluchoweckyj hit a three with 13:53 left to give the Hornets a 49-43 lead. He hit another three pointer with 10:26 remaining to make it 57-52. Daniel Farris then scored inside for the Mules to cut the lead to 57-54 and neither team would take more than a three point lead the rest of the way.

Matt Wilkinson gave the Mules a 69-68 lead with 2:24 left but Jackson was fouled on a three-pointer with 58.1 seconds left and hit all three to give the Hornets a 71-69 lead. Jafar Kinsey hit two free throws for the Mules to tie the game at 71 with 46.2 seconds left. Emporia State called their final timeout with 34.7 seconds left and 19 seconds on the shot clock. Jackson missed a layup with 22 seconds left and Kinsey was able to hit a contested jumper with 1.5 seconds left to give the Mules the 73-71 win.

Julius Jackson led Emporia State with 21 points and was joined in double figures by Kooper Glick with 18 and Hassan Thomas with 13 points. Kooper Glick also led the Hornets with ten rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

Emporia State will return to White Auditorium for four of their final six games beginning with a Valentine's Day match-up with Central Oklahoma. Tip-off on February 14 is set for 7:30 p.m.
