November 8, 2019-Emporia State overcame a two goal deficit at the half to defeat Northwest Missouri 3-2 in overtime and advance to the MIAA Tournament semifinals for the second straight year.

Playing with the wind in the first half, the Bearcats scored first when Alex Mausbach put in a rebound off the post from Kaylie Rock in the 23
rd minute. They would go up 2-0 when Taylor Wolfe put a rebound of her own shot past Hornet keeper
Jillian Patton in the 42
nd minute.

The Hornets came out on fire after halftime and scored just 2:14 into the period.Â
Kennedy Hoffman was able to head in a corner from
Hannah Woolery. Ten minutes later Woolery tied the score off assists from
Rachel Marshall and
Mackenzie Dimarco.

The score would remain tied the rest of the way despite Emporia State have a 10-3 advantage on shots in the second half. Neither team scored in the first overtime period with each squad taking two shots. Woolery would score the Golden Goal 33 seconds into the second overtime when
Joanie Westcoat played a free kick into the box and Woolery got a foot on it to put it past the Bearcat keeper.

With the win Emporia State advances to the MIAA Tournament semifinals for the second straight year and will play the winner of the match between Northeastern State and Newman. The semifinals will be held at the site of the highest remaining seed in the tournament on Friday, November 15.
