HORNET VOLLEYBALL DROPS 3-0 DECISION TO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

Emma Dixon moves into fifth on ESU career assist list

November 2, 2019-Emporia State was swept by Central Oklahoma 25-12, 25-20, 25-18 on Saturday night in White Auditorium.
 
Emporia State scored the first two points but Central Oklahoma used a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 lead and never trailed in set one.
 
The second set was much tighter with ten ties and six lead changes.  The Hornets led 9-7 when the Bronchos went on a 4-0 run to take an 11-9 lead.  Emporia State answered with 2-0 run to tie the score before UCO went on a 4-1 run of their own to go up 15-12.  The Hornets got six kills from four different players during a 6-2 run of their own to go up 18-17.  A quick 3-0 run put the Bronchos up 20-18. The Hornets got within a point at 21-20 before UCO closed the set by scoring four straight points to take a 25-20 win and 2-0 lead in the match.
 
The Bronchos jumped out to a 6-1 lead to open set three but the Hornets responded with an 8-3 run of their own to tie the score at 9-9.  With the score knotted at 11, UCO went on a 9-1 run to take control.  Emporia State was able to fight off one match point before falling 25-18.
 
All 13 Hornets that suited up played with Yuchen Du recording a team high eight kills.  Riley Bernskoetter and Emma Dixon combined for 29 assists while Rylie Fornelli had 13 digs to lead Emporia State.
 
The Hornets will return to White Auditorium on November 8 when they play host to Missouri Southern.  First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
 
NOTES
Emma Dixon had 13 assists and now has 2,560 to move past Renee Regoli (2,558 assists from 1994-95) for fifth on the Emporia State career list.
