TOUGH STRETCH
The Hornets begin a stretch of playing four top 15 teams in 11 days beginning with #14 Northwest Missouri on Friday and #9 Central Missouri on Saturday as part of Homecoming at Emporia State.

LAST ROTATION
Emporia State volleyball was swept for just the fourth time this year in a 25-19, 25-11, 25-18 loss at Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.
Neither team had more than a three point lead in the first set until Southern scored the final four points of the set for a 25-19 win.  The Lions jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second set and never trailed in a 25-11 victory for a 2-0 lead.  Missouri Southern led 7-0 to start the third set and would lead 20-10 before settling for the 25-18 win.
Yuchen Du was the only Hornet with more than three kills as she finished with 11 kills on .280 hitting. Emma Dixon had 16 assists for 25 Hornet kills.  Rylie Fornelli had a team high 15 digs.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 15th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 286-181 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 17-6 against Northwest Missouri and 5-19 against Central Missouri.
Amy Woerth is 127-104 in her eighth year at Northwest Missouri. She is 6-4 against Emporia State.
Flip Piontek is 293-69 in his 11th season as head coach at Central Missouri. He is 14-3 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 5-12, 1-8 in the MIAA and have played 13 of their first 17 matches away from White Auditorium. Eight of their 17 opponents were ranked or received votes in the AVCA National Poll. Emma Dixon needs 157 assists to move into the top five all-time at Emporia State.

SCOUTING NORTHWEST MISSOURI
The Bearcats are 13-4, 6-3 in the MIAA and ranked #14 in the AVCA National Poll. They are second in the league in kills and blocks. llie Sidney is averaging a league best 4.12 kills per set while Maddy Ahrens leads the MIAA with 11.03 assists per set.

The Hornets lead the all-time series 43-17 but the two have split their last 12 matches.
LAST TIME VS. THE BEARCATS
Emporia State fell in straight set to Northwest Missouri in White Auditorium. The Hornets fell 25-17, 25-17, 25-11. The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with 12 kills followed by Tatum Graves with nine and Jordan Evans with eight. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 20 assists while Allie Maloney had 13 digs.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MISSOURI
The Jennies are 13-5, 7-2 in the MIAA and ranked #9 in the AVCA National Poll. They are second in the MIAA in hitting percentage, assists and service aces. Audrey Fisher is hitting an MIAA leading .381 on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
Central Missouri leads the all-time series 53-6. Five of Emporia State's six wins have come under Bing Xu.
LAST TIME VS. THE JENNIES
The Hornets came back from a 2-0 deficit to push #15 Central Missouri to five sets before falling 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 20-25, 15-10 in White Auditorium. The Hornets had three players record a double-double led by Taylor Otting with 20 kills and 23 digs. Jordan Evans recorded 18 kills and 16 digs while Emma Dixon had 58 assists and 21 digs. Allie Maloney led all players with 34 digs.

The Hornets travel to #3 Neb.-Kearney on Tuesday, October 22 for the first match of a three game road swing. First serve from the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb. is set for 6:00 p.m.
