ON THE ROAD
Emporia State heads South for the weekend to take on Pittsburg State on Friday, Sept. 28 and #18 Central Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 29.
THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 14th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 274-161 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Jen Gomez is in her third year as head coach at Pittsburg State.
Edgar Miraku is in his seventh year as head coach at Central Oklahoma.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State won 3-2 over Lindenwood on September 22 to improve to 7-10 on the season. The Hornets had to battle back to win the final two sets after Lindenwood took a 2-1 match lead after three sets. The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with a double-double of 20 kills and 19 digs.. Yuchen Du joined Otting in double digit kills with 12 along with Julia Joseph with 10. Allie Maloney had a team high 24 digs for the Hornets while Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 30 assists.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 7-10 this season, 2-3 in the MIAA. Senior Tatum Graves leads the Hornets with 67 blocks including 11 solo and 56 assists. Graves also leads with 196 kills while Yuchen Du joins her in triple digit kills for the Hornets with 148 followed by Taylor Otting with 133 and Jamie Hauptman with 111. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets with 395 assists followed by Du with 208. Allie Maloney leads the Hornets with 299 digs while Taylor Otting adds 212 and Du adds 135.
ABOUT PITTSBURG STATE
The Gorillas are 14-4 on the season, 3-2 in the MIAA. Lauren Regler leads the Gorillas with 199 kills joined in triple digits by Meg Auten with 131, Emily Regler with 128 and Morgan Henning with 103. Setter, Camryn Blanton leads the Gorillas with 546 assists while Lauren Dunn leads with 318 digs.

Emporia State volleyball defeated the Gorillas 3-1 in Pittsburg, Kan. The Hornets were led in hitting by Tatum Graves with 14 kills followed by Jamie Hauptman with 13, Jordan Evans and Yuchen Du with 10 each. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 22 assists followed by Du with 18. Du led all players with 18 digs followed by Maloney with 12.

Emporia State volleyball fell in straight sets to #8 Central Oklahoma on November 9, 2017. The Hornets were led in hitting by Tatum Graves with ten kills followed by Jamie Hauptman with seven kills. Yuchen Du led the Hornets with 21 assists while Allie Maloney led with 12 digs.
