Emporia State travels to Topeka, Kan. to take on MIAA rival Washburn in Volleyballs first meeting of the 2018 Turnpike Tussle.

Bing Xu is in his 14th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 273-159 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Chris Herron is 483-97 in his 17th year as head coach at Washburn.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State took the #1 ranked Nebraska Kearney to four sets to hand the Lopers just their seventh set loss on the season. Taylor Otting led the Hornets with a double-double of 13 kills and a career high 28 digs.
The Hornets swept Fort Hays State in the second match of the weekend to pick up their first MIAA win of the season. The Hornets were led by Tatum Graves with 13 kills followed closely by Taylor Otting who recorded her second double-double in a row with ten kills and 14 digs. Emma Dixon also recorded a double-double with a match leading 22 assists and ten digs. Yuchen Du led the Hornets with 15 digs.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 6-8 to start the season, 1-1 in the MIAA. Senior Tatum Graves leads the Hornets with 54 blocks and 170 kills. Yuchen Du joins Graves in triple digit kills for the Hornets with 118 followed by Jamie Hauptman with 111. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets with 317 assists followed by Du with 167. Allie Maloney leads the Hornets with 235 digs while Taylor Otting adds 164 and Julia Joseph adds 133.
MIAA LEADER
Emporia State senior Tatum Graves leads the MIAA with 54 total blocks, is second with 10 solo blocks and fourth with 170 kills.
ABOUT #21 WASHBURN
The Ichabods are 14-0 to start the season, 2-0 in the MIAA coming into the match after a win over #1 ranked Nebraska Kearney. Erica Montgomery leads the Ichabods with 129 kills followed closely by Allison Maxwell with 124 and Genna Berg with 118. Setter, Shayla Conner has 410 assists on the season while libero, Faith Rottinghaus leads Washburn with 224 digs.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE ICHABODS
Emporia State volleyball fell in straight sets to Washburn in the second Turnpike Tussle matchup of the 2017 season. The Hornets were led by Karly Patton with 11 kills on .391 hitting while Yuchen Du added six kills on .308 hitting with nine digs and 31 assists. She played primarily setter all night as Emma Dixon missed the match with an injury. Allie Maloney had a team high 15 digs for Emporia State.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 102nd volleyball Turnpike Tussle between the Hornets and the Ichabods. Emporia State leads the all-time series 64-37 over Washburn.
