April 10, 2018- Emporia State Tennis teams played host to Northwest Missouri on Tuesday. The Hornet women's team fell 8-1 to the Bearcats while the men fell 7-2.
In women's doubles Kaley Clark and Sarah Durham fell 8-3 to Tania Teruel and Irene Recuenco in #1 doubles while Shannen Myer and Silvana Caceres defeated Tess Lovig and Julie Rinderknech 9-8, 8-4 in #2 doubles. The Hornets were forced to forfeit #3 singles as they played with only four players on the day.
In singles play, Kaley Clark fell 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to Tania Teruel in #1 singles while Sarah Durham fell 6-4, 6-1 to Irene Recuenco in #2 singles. Silvana Caceres fell 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 to Julie Rinderknech in #3 singles and Shannen Meyer fell 6-2, 6-0 to Tess Lovig in #4 singles. Playing with just four players the Hornets were forced to forfeit #5 and 6 singles.
In men's doubles Oliver Dixon and Anton Levanovich fell 9-7 to Franco Oliva and Pedro Pontes in #1 doubles while Patrick Cameron and Matheus Mota fell 8-2 to Josef Altmann and Agustin Velasco in #2 doubles. Charles Gortzounian and Janne Jacobi got the Hornets only doubles win 8-6 over Rahul Manoah and Bjorn Kurtze in #3 doubles.
In singles play Oliver Dixon fell 6-3, 6-3 to Josef Altmann in #1 singles. Janne Jacobi got the Hornets lone singles win in #2 singles over Rahul Manoah 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Charles Gortzounian fell 6-2, 7-6, 6-1 to Franco Oliva in #3 singles while Matheus Mota fell 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 to Bjorn Kurtze in #4 singles. Patrick Cameron fell 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 to Agustin Velasco in #5 singles and Lukas Winkler fell 6-3, 6-3 to Jorge Serrano in #6 singles.
The Hornets will be back in action on Friday April 13 as they take on Newman in Emporia, Kan.
