EMPORIA STATE TENNIS FALLS AT NEBRASKA KEARNEY

Hornet men fell 5-4, Women 9-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 March 17, 2018- Emporia State tennis teams fell Saturday at Nebraska Kearney. The Hornet men's team fell 5-4 while the women's team fell 5-0.

Hornet Men
The Hornets started off the day 2-1 as Oliver Dixon and Anton Levanovich defeated Sri Reddiyar Aakash and Dias Meiirbek 9-7 in #1 doubles. Janne Jacobi and Taylor Nelson defeated Pepe Balado and Johnnie Carmichael 8-5 in #3 doubles while Patrick Cameron and Matheus Mota fell 8-5 to Alberto Diaz and Joey Richards.

In singles competition Oliver Dixon fell 1-6, 6-4, 1-6 to Sri Reddiyar Aakash in #1 singles while Charles Gortzounian defeated Pepe Balado 7-5, 3-6, 11-9 in #2 singles. In #3 singles Matheus Mota Defeated Dias Meiirbek 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 while Patrick Cameron fell 3-6, 0-6 to Johnnie Carmichael in #4 singles. Anton Levanovich fell to Joey Richards 1-6, 0-3, retired in #5 singles and Taylor Nelson was defeated 1-6, 5-7 by Alberto Diaz in #6 singles.

Hornet Women
Kaley Clark and Sarah Durham fell 8-4 to Camryn Parnell and Zhanel Turarbek in #1 doubles while Shannen Meyer and Silvana Caceres fell 8-3 to Emma Neil and Amanda Alvarez in #2 doubles. With only four available players for Emporia State the match was decided at that point and the four remaining singles matches were not played as the Hornets fell 9-0.

The Hornets will be back in action on March 21 as they take on Cameron University in Emporia, Kan.  Monday's scheduled duals with Oklahoma Baptist have been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.
