EMPORIA STATE WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS 5-4 AT FT. HAYS STATE

Box Score March 13, 2018-Despite starting the dual down 3-0 due to only having four players, the Emporia State women's tennis team battled Ft. Hays State to the end before falling 5-4 on Tuesday in Hays, Kan. in the MIAA opener for both teams.
 
Kaley Clark and Sarah Durham got things started for the Hornets by picking up an 8-4 win at #1 doubles over Natalie Lubbers and Ellea Ediger.  Silvana Caceres and Shannen Meyer then combined to get an 8-5 win over Lauren Lindell and Macy Moyers at #2 doubles.
 
Meyer evened the match for Emporia State t 3-3 with a 7-6, 6-4 win at #4 singles. Durham fell in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at #2 singles to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.  Clark then evened the dual with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #1 singles over Laura Jimenez-Lendinez to make it 4-4 with only the #3 singles left on the court.  Caceres took the first set 6-3 before Moyers came back with a 6-2, 7-5 win in the final two to give the Tigers a 5-4 win.
 
The Hornets will be back in action on Thursday, March 15 when they play host to Missouri Western at the Kossover Tennis Complex and Milton Courts.  First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
