EMPORIA STATE WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO ROCKHURST IN SHORT HANDED DUAL

Hornets only have four players for season opener in Kansas City

Box Score February 23, 2018-Playing with only four players, the Emporia State women's tennis team won every doubles match they played but could not pull out a singles victory in a 7-2 loss at Rockhurst to open the 2017 spring season in Kansas City, Mo.

Kaley Clark and Sarah Durham won 8-5 at #1 doubles while Silvi Caceres and Shannen Meyer picked up an 8-4 win at #2 doubles.  But playing with only four athletes the Hornets still found themselves down 3-2 going into singles play.

Clark fell 7-5, 6-3 at #1 singles while Durham lost 6-2, 6-1 at the #2 slot.  Caceres went down 6-1, 6-3 at #3 singles and Meyer was on the wrong end of a 6-2, 6-1 decision at #4 singles.

The next regular season action for the Emporia State women is set for Wednesday, FEbruary 28 against Ottawa at the Kossover Tennis Complex, home of the Milton Courts.
