TOURNEY TIME
Emporia State ended the 2018 regular season as the #7 seed heading into the MIAA Tournament. The Hornets will travel to Topeka, Kan. on Tuesday to take on #11 Washburn who finished the season as the #2 seed in the MIAA.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 14th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 281-168 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Chris Herron is in his 17th season as head coach at Washburn.

LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, the Hornets hosted senior day in White Auditorium. The Hornets defeated #17 Central Oklahoma 3-2 to clinch thier spot in the MIAA Tournament. The Hornets were led by Yuchen Du with a triple-double of 18 kills, 26 assists and 29 digs. Jordan Evans and Emma Dixon each recorded double-doubles for the Hornets. Evans had 11 kills and 22 digs while Dixon had a match high 40 assists with 19 digs. Jamie Hauptman led all players with 23 kills while Aliyah Bernard and Tatum Graves joined in double digit kills. Bernard recorded 14 while Graves had 10. Allie Maloney led all players with 46 digs which also broke the single game digs record at Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 14-17 this season, 8-10 in the MIAA. Senior Tatum Graves leads the Hornets with 121 total blocks. Graves also leads with 326 kills while Taylor Otting joins her in triple digit kills with 287 followed by Yuchen Du with 213, Jamie Hauptman with 163 and Jordan Evans with 152. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets with 818 assists followed by Du with 272. Allie Maloney leads the Hornets with 607 digs on the season.

ABOUT #11 WASHBURN
Washburn is 27-3 on the season, 15-3 in the MIAA. The Ichabods are led by Allison Maxwell with 291 kills followed by Erica Montgomery with 289 and Genna Berg with 268. A. Maxwell also leads the Ichabods with 86 followed by Makayla Maxwell with 80. Shayla Conner leads the team with 950 assists on the season while Faith Rottinghaus leads with 538 digs.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE #11 ICHABODS
The Hornets fell 3-1 to the Ichabods in White Auditorium. The Hornets were led by Jordan Evans, Taylor Otting and Emma Dixon who each recorded a double-double. Evans recorded 12 kills and 24 digs while Otting had 12 kills and 20 digs and Dixon had 30 assists and 10 digs. Jamie Hauptman joined them in double digit kills with ten. Allie Maloney led all players with 28 digs and Tatum Graves led all players with nine total blocks while Evans recorded five.

SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets hold the lead in the all-time series 64-39 over the Ichabods.

LAST YEAR IN THE MIAA TOURNAMENT
Emporia State entered the 2017 MIAA tournament as the #8 seed and fell to top seeded Nebraska in stright sets. The Hornets were led by Jordan Evans with 9 kills followed by Jamie Hauptman with six. Yuchen Du led the Hornets with 15 assists while Emma Dixon added 9. Allie Maloney led all players with 14 digs followed by Julia Joseph with 8 for the Hornets.

NEXT SERVE
With a win, the Hornets would advance to the MIAA Tournament semi-final round. Emporia State would travel to the highest remaining seed and take on the winner of #3 seed Central Oklahoma vs. #6 seed Lindenwood.
