November 2, 2018-Making just their second trip to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals, Emporia State fell 7-1 to defending national champion Central Missouri on Friday afternoon in Edmond, Okla.

The Jennies got on the board first, with Makayla Martin scoring one on one down the middle of the field nine minutes into the match. UCM went up 2-0 just three minutes later when Jada Scott scored from 12 yards out. Courtney Killiam made it 3-0 in the 21
st minute and Makayla Toth pushed it to 4-0 under three minutes later. Scott got her second goal of the match with just 11:18 left in the half to give the Jennies a 5-0 lead at the half.

Emporia State got on the board in the 67
th minute on a McKayla Brady penalty kick. Central Missouri answered just 1:09 later when Kelsey Mueller scored off a free kick from 30 yards out and then made it 7-1 in the 70
th minute when Toth scored her second goal of the match in another one on one break away.

The Jennies outshot the Hornets 17-12 overall for the match with a 12-3 advantage in shots on goals. Emporia State did had two corner kicks to just one for Central Missouri.

Central Missouri will play the winner of the second semifinal between Central Oklahoma and Ft. Hays State for the MIAA Championship on Sunday afternoon in Edmond, Okla. As the fifth ranked team in the region the Hornets now awaits their NCAA post-season fate.  Emporia State will host a Selection Show watch party at 5:30 p.m. in the Little Theater of White Auditorium on Monday, November 5. Tip-off of the Lady Hornet basketball exhibition game with Bethel has been pushed back until 5:45 p.m. to accommodate the watch party.
NOTES
The seven goals surrendered match the most ever given up by Emporia State. It is the first time since ESU has given up seven goals since a 7-0 loss to Truman on September 22, 2007.
