November 15, 2018-The Lady Hornets connected on 16 of 31 shots from behind the three-point line on the way to a 93-47 win at Northwestern Oklahoma on Thursday night in Alva, Okla.
Emporia State jumped out to 10-2 lead to start the game and never trailed. The Rangers trailed 22-16 with 1:12 left when the Lady Hornets used an 8-0 burst in 38 seconds near the end of the quarter and led 30-18 after ten minutes. Emporia State hit six of seven three-pointers and 12 of 16 shots overall in the quarter.
The scoring slowed down in the first three minutes minutes of the second quarter as each team hit just one basket to give Emporia State a 32-20 lead with 7:06 left. Northwestern Oklahoma would outscore the Lady Hornets 11-3 over the next 4:18 and cut the lead to 35-31 with 2:48 left in the half. The Lady Hornets would socre four of the final six points to take a 39-33 lead to the locker room.
Emporia State made up for the cold second quarter with a 15-0 run over the first 4:43 of the third quarter. Five different Lady Hornets scored during the run as Emporia State took a 54-33 lead with 5:17 left in the period. The Lady Hornets went five of seven from behind the arc in the third while limiting the Rangers to just four of 16 shooting and a zero for seven effort from the three-point line as Emporia State led 68-41 going to the fourth.
A 14-2 run to start the fourth quarter gave Emporia State an 82-43 lead with 6:09 left and the lead hit 40 on an old-fashioned three-point play by Brittany Kramer with 3:10 left in the game.
Jessica Wayne had a double double with 21 points and ten rebounds while adding three steals. She was joined in double figures by Emily Miller with 19 points, Addie Lackey with 15, Tyra Jones with 12 and Morgan Laudan with ten points.Â
The Lady Hornets wrap up their four game Oklahoma trip to open the season on Monday night when they take on Cameron. Tip-off in Lawton, Okla. is set for 5:30 p.m.

The 17 three-pointers are the most in a game by the Lady Hornets since they hit 17 against Oklahoma Science & Arts on November 21, 2015.
Addie Lackey moved past Kay Clarke (1,138 pts from 1975-79) into 24th on the Lady Hornets career scoring list and now has 1,148 points. She needs two points to tie Andi McAlexander (1,150 pts from 2002-06) for 23rd and 11 to tie Sheri Moore (1,159 pts from 1988-92) for 22nd place.
