HOME STRETCH
Emporia State wraps up the 2018 regular season with a four game home stand. The Hornets host Lindenwood on Saturday, Oct. 27 at White Auditorium before finishing the weekend against #15 Central Missouri on Sunday, October 28.
THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 14th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 279-166 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Will Condon is in his second season as head coach at Lindenwood.
Flip Piontek is in her first season as head coach at Central Missouri.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State defeated Fort Hays State 3-0 in straight sets in Hays, Kan. The Hornets used a pair of short runs to take the lead in set one en route to a 25-23 set win. In set two, the Hornets forced five ties before taking the lead late in the set for the 25-22 win and 2-0 match lead. The Hornets used a 10-0 run after being tied 14-14 to take control of the set before finishing it at 25-17 to take the match 3-0. The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Jordan Evans and Emma Dixon also recorded a double-double. Evans had 11 kills and 13 digs while Dixon recorded 44 assists and 10 digs. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 16 digs.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 12-15 this season, 6-8 in the MIAA. Senior Tatum Graves leads the Hornets with 105 total blocks. Graves also leads with 292 kills while Taylor Otting joins her in triple digit kills with 243 followed by Yuchen Du with 166 and Jamie Hauptman with 136. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets with 655 assists followed by Du with 235. Allie Maloney leads the Hornets with 482 digs.
ABOUT LINDENWOOD
Lindenwood is 13-11 on the season, 5-9 in the MIAA. The Lions are led by Alexa Pressley with 251 kills followed by Sadie Koscluk with 222and Bailey Dvorak with 201. Allyson Clancy leads the Lions with 776 assists while Sara Wagenknecht leads with 250 digs.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE LIONS
The Hornets defeated the Lions 3-2 in St. Charles, Mo. The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with a double-double of 20 kills and 19 digs.. Yuchen Du joined Otting in double digit kills with 12 along with Julia Joseph with 10. Allie Maloney had a team high 24 digs for the Hornets while Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 30 assists.
ABOUT #15 CENTRAL MISSOURI
Central Missouri is 20-6 on the season, 10-4 in the MIAA. The Jennies are led by Audrey Fisher with 327 kills followed by Kylie Hohlen with 308 and Rylee Neigenfind with 220. Ally Offerdahn leads the Jennies with 1048 assists while Abby Skrastins leads with 414 digs.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE #13 JENNIES
Emporia State fell in straight sets to the #13 Jennies in Warrensburg, Mo. The Hornets forced the Jennies into extra points in the first two sets falling 30-28 in set one and 28-26 in set two before the Jennies finished the match with a 25-13 set three win. The Hornets were led by Taylor Otting with her third double-double of the season of 11 kills and 18 digs. Allie Maloney had a team high 22 digs while Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 22 assists.
