Emporia State wraps up their three game home stand with the Turnpike Tussle. The Hornets play host to Washburn on Tuesday, October 16 in White Auditorium at 6:00 p.m.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 14th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 278- 164 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Chris Herron is in his 17th season as head coach at Washburn.

LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State defeated Missouri Western 3-1 in White Auditorium. After trailing late in the first set, the Hornets scored the final five points to take the 26-24 set win. The Griffons bounced back with a 25-22 win to tie the match at 1-1. Despite trailing early in set three, the Hornets used a 6-0 run to take the lead midway through the set en route to a 25-23 win to regain the match lead 2-1. The Hornets held their momentum through the final set to take the 25-22 set four win. Taylor Otting led the Hornets with a double-double of 19 kills and 14 digs. Emma Dixon joined her with 50 assists and 15 digs.  

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 11-13 this season, 5-6 in the MIAA. Senior Tatum Graves leads the Hornets with 89 blocks including 13 solo and 76 assists. Graves also leads with 271 kills while Taylor Otting joins her in triple digit kills with 211 followed by Yuchen Du with 166 and Jamie Hauptman with 111. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets with 559 assists followed by Du with 235. Allie Maloney leads the Hornets with 420 digs on the season.

HORNET MIAA LEADERS
Tatum Graves is ranked fifth in the MIAA with her 271 kills, fourth in solo blocks (13) and third in both block assists (76) and total blocks (89).  Allie Maloney is ranked fifth in digs with 422 and sixth in digs/set with 4.64.  

ABOUT #9 WASHBURN
Washburn is 22-1 on the season, 10-1 in the MIAA. The Ichabods started the season with a 21 game winning streak before taking their first loss and have lost just 12 total sets on the season. Allison Maxwell leads the team with 236 kills followed by Erica Montgomery with 210 and Genna Berg with 207. Shayla Conner leads the Ichabods with 712 assists while Faith Rottinghaus leads with 401 digs. Emporia State leads the all-time Turnpike Tussle series 64-38 over the Ichabods.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE ICHABODS
The Hornets fell 3-1 to the Ichabods in Topeka, Kan. The Hornets forced a fourth set against Washburn for just the fifth time this season. The Hornets were led by Yuchen Du who recorded a triple-double with ten kills, 14 assists and 12 digs. Tatum Graves joined Du in double digit kills with ten while the Hornets had four players with double digit digs. Allie Maloney had a team high 18 digs while Jordan Evans had 13, Du had 12 and Taylor Otting had 11. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 26 assists in the match.

NEXT SERVE
Emporia State returns to the road as they travel to Kearney Nebraska on Friday, October 19 to take on #3 Nebraska Kearney. The Hornets wrap up the weekend in Hays, Kan. as they take on Fort Hays State on Saturday, October 20.
