LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State went 1-3 in the Washburn Invitational tournament. On Friday the Hornets lost six straight sets to Drury and Ark. Tech. On Saturday the Hornets lost in five sets to Missouri-St. Louis and won their second match in three sets over Western State.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is in his 13th year as head coach for Emporia State. He holds a record of 253-137 and has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournaments.
Lindy Mortensen is in her 12th season as head coach of the Adams State volleyball program
Caira Dortch is in her fourth season as head coach for the Southwest Baptist volleyball program.
Anna Howle is in her tenth season as head coach for the Oklahoma Baptist volleyball program.
Kelley Rifilato is in her fifth season as head coach for the Fort Lewis volleyball program.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State began the season at the Washburn Invitational where they went 1-3. Yuchen Du , who had a triple double against UMSL, leads the Hornets with 47 kills, followed by Tatum Graves with 22 and Jamie Hauptman with 22. Emma Dixon leads the Hornets in assists with 72 while Du adds 50. Allie Maloney is leading Emporia State with 44 digs followed by Dixon with 30 and Du with 26. Graves leads the Hornets with 7 solo and 18 total blocks, Du adds 17.

ABOUT ADAMS STATE
Adams State finished last season with an overall record of 16-12, 11-7 in the RMAC. The Grizzlies started the season in Canyon, TX at the Lady Buffs Classic where they finished 2-2. The Grizzlies are led by senior Mallory Grimsrud. Emporia State leads the all-time series against Adams State 3-2.
ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
Southwest Baptist finished last season with an overall record of 3-29, 0-18 in the MIAA. The Bearcats began the 2017 season at the TexAnn Invitational in Stephenville, TX where they finished 0-4. The Bearcats are led by senior Katie Robinson and juniors Brea Freeman and Bailey Baumann. Emporia State leads the all-time series 48-1 against Southwest Baptist.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist finished last season with an overall record of 23-15, 11-5 in the GAC. The Lady Bison began the 2017 season in Daytona Beach, FL at the Bahama House Classic where they finished 2-2. The Lady Bison are led in kills by freshman Mikayla Watson with 41 and Malia Leatherland with 40 so far this season. Emporia State leads the all-time series against Oklahoma Baptist 4-2.

ABOUT FORT LEWIS
Fort Lewis finished last season with an overall record of 6-20, 5-13 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks started the 2017 season in Goodwell, OK at the OPSU Aggies Classic where they finished 3-1. The Skyhawks are led by senior Emily Dellenbech, junior Hannah Martinez and sophomore Bailey Longacre. Emporia State and Fort Lewis are tied in the all-time series at 2-2.

NEXT SERVE
Emporia State will travel to Bethany, Okla. to participate in the MIAA/GAC Challenge on September 15-16. The Hornets will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday and East Central and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday.
