COMING HOME TO TUSSLE
Emporia State will host Washburn on Tuesday, in the Turnpike Tussle. It is the 2017 home debut for the Hornets after starting the season with a 14 game road stretch.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State opened MIAA play with a 3-1 win against Fort Hays State (25-23, 16-25, 25-13, 25-23). The Hornets were led by The Hornets were led by Jamie Hauptman with 13 kills, while Karly Patton and Tatum Graves each added 11. Yuchen Du led Emporia State with 25 assists, followed by Emma Dixon with 19. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 21 digs while Julia Joseph joined her in double digits with 10.
The Hornets fell in straight sets to fifth ranked Nebraska Kearney (26-24, 25-14, 25-20). The Hornets were led by Jordan Evans with 9 kills followed by Yuchen Du with 6 and Karly Patton with 5. Du led the Hornets in assists with 15 while Emma Dixon added 11. Tatum Graves led the Hornets with five total blocks followed by Jordan Evans with 4. Allie Maloney led all players with 19 digs.

Washburn is 10-4 on the season, 1-1 in the MIAA. The Ichabods are led in hitting by Erica Montgomery with 141 kills followed by Makayla Maxwell with 121. Allison Sadler leads Washburn with 317 assists. Faith Rottinghaus leads the Ichabods with 242 digs.
SERIES HISTORY-THE TURNPIKE TUSSLE
This will be the 100th volleyball Turnpike Tussle between the Hornets and the Ichabods. Emporia State leads the all-time series 63-36 over Washburn. The Ichabods have won 15 straight matchups dating back to 2009. The Hornets have forced five sets in three of those 15 matches.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE ICHABODS
Emporia State fell 3-2 in full sets to #17 Washburn in White Auditorium. There were three Hornets that recorded double doubles in the match led by Josie Williams with 18 kills and 18 digs. She was followed by Hornets setters Kimberly Bell with 27 assists and 10 digs while Emma Dixon added 31 assists and 10 digs. Allie Maloney led all players with 38 digs on the match.
ESU HONORS
Emporia State will be holding a ceremony before the match to dedicate the volleyball locker room in honor of former Hornet All-American Arica Shepard-Ahlvers.
