EMPORIA STATE VOLLEYBALL SPLITS ON DAY TWO OF MIAA/GAC CHALLENGE

Hornets finishes weekend 3-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 September 16, 2017- Emporia State volleyball won against East Central 3-1 and lost 3-2 in a rematch of last weekends matchup against Oklahoma Baptist.

In the first match of the day the Hornets defeated East Central 3-1 with a set one score of 25-18, 17-25 in set two, 25-16 in set three and finishing the match with a set four score of 25-18. The Hornets were led by Yuchen Du as she recorded her fourth triple double of the year with 14 kills, 25 assists and 13 digs. Jamie Hauptman was also in double digits with 10 kills while Mikayla Simons added 9. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 29 digs. Du led the Hornets with her 25 assists while Emma Dixon had 24.

In the second match of the day the Hornets fell in a 3-2 battle against Oklahoma Baptist (25-23,25-21,26-28,16-25,15-7). This was a rematch from one week ago in which the Hornets were able to defeat OBU 3-2 at the SBU Tournament. The Hornets were led by Tatum Graves and Jamie Hauptman with 15 kills while Karly Patton added 14. Du again led the Hornets with 34 assists while Dixon followed with 22. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 23 digs while Julia Joseph added 21.

The Hornets will be back in action Friday, September 22 as they travel to Hays, Kansas to take on Fort Hays State to open MIAA play.
